CHILDREN DENTISTRY

Our team at Flemington Smiles Dental wants to give your little one’s smile a great start. That’s why we’ve chosen to make preventive dentistry a centerpiece of our practice. Through routine care, we seek to help children enjoy quality oral health as they grow. And with our commitment to education, we want to equip them with the knowledge they’ll need to develop healthy brushing and flossing habits—habits that could lead to a lifetime of excellent health.

Our preventive dental services include:

Dental Cleanings and Exams
Let’s face it, children aren’t always the most thorough when it comes to brushing and flossing. As a result, young patients are often more vulnerable to dental problems like tooth decay and plaque build-up. That’s why it’s so important for your son or daughter to see a dentist at least twice a year.
Dental check up at an early age will help us to recognize and treat many growth and development issues at an early stage rather than waiting for more severe problems down the road.

Fissure Sealants and Fluoride Treatments
Besides helping young patients with regular exams and cleanings, we offer two other very effective preventive services: Fissure sealants and fluoride treatments. Fissure sealants are designed to protect the the pits and grooves on the chewing surfaces of the molars from decay. The service works using a thin layer of material that is applied to the patient’s teeth as a liquid and then dried, providing years of protection. Fluoride, on the other hand, works by attracting minerals that will strengthen enamel against the damage that acidic bacteria can cause.
Do you want to know if either of these services is right for your little one? Don’t hesitate to ask during your family’s next visit.

Mouth Guards
If your child plays sports or struggles with teeth grinding, we will be happy to create a custom-made mouth guard for him or her. An athletic mouth guard will protect your little one’s smile while he or she is active. Meanwhile, a special appliance known as a night guard can prevent excessive wear and tear for young patients who struggle with teeth grinding.
